The anti-extremism cell of Crime Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested an alleged target killer from Liaquatabad and recovered a Kalashnikov, four repeater guns and several rounds from his possession while his other accomplices managed to flee.
A police team led by SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam acting on a tipoff raided a hideout of target killers near Liaquatabad Nullah. When the police team reached there, the accused opened fire. Police retaliated the fire and after a brief encounter arrested Atif Shah in injured condition while his others aides managed to escape under the cover of heavy firing.
A senior police officer at CID requesting anonymity said that others accused including Farid alias Sunara, Akram, Imran Ansari, Sohail alias Bangali and Rashid alias Chakata managed to escape. He said the arrested accused Atif was involved in more than 10 cases of targeted killings. The police have started investigation and conducting search to arrest the other accused.
