Educational institutions: special lectures be arranged on dengue, says chief minister Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that condition of uniform in educational institutions had been lifted so that parents could send their children to school in such a dress, which could provide them complete protection against dengue virus.
He directed that stern action be taken against the administration of such educational institutions where the students are not coming in full sleeve shirt, Shalwar or trouser and socks. He further directed that special lectures be arranged on daily basis in all educational institutions regarding dengue virus and preventive measures against this menace and this process be started within next 48 hours.
He said that old imported tyres and used tyres are hotspots for the growth of dengue virus and the presence of dengue virus and larva in these has been detected during survey. He said that in the first phase, immediate arrangements be made for spray and fumigation in the goodowns of these tyres, while in the second phase measures be taken for the removal of these goodowns from the city. He directed that the committee comprising elected representatives and officers of the departments concerned should take measures in this regard.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding ongoing campaign against dengue virus, here on Tuesday. The Chief Minister said that elected representatives, government officers and the departments concerned are striving to cope with the challenge of dengue virus and all out resources are being utilised for this purpose. He said that the role of doctors and paramedical staff is also commendable who are working round the clock in the service of the ailing humanity.
He said that solid measures have been taken for the provision of additional machines and medicines in hospitals, while field hospitals have also started functioning. He said that 150 foggers from Germany and medicines from India have been imported by air so that the best medical facilities could be extended to the dengue patients without any loss of time.
He said that all dispensaries of Lahore are being made operational whereas planning has been made for activating the dispensaries in rural areas, which are also being provided modern machines. He commended the co-operation of corporate sector and welfare organisations in improving treatment facilities and provision of modern machinery and equipment in dispensaries.
