SNGPL clarifies

Published Updated

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is facing vast gap between demand and supply due to depletion of major gas fields supplying gas to SNGPL's network. Reacting to the statement of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) published in the Business Recorder on 27.09.2011 under the heading "SNGPL Slammed For Flouting Government Direction" the spokesman said that situation further worsens when any of the gas fields proceed on its Annual Turn Around (ATA).
This gap between demand and supply is being bridged through curtailment to general industry, CNG, power and fertiliser sectors. He also said that Performance Test of Qadirpur Gas Field has started from 18.09.2011 and Dakhni gas field shall also proceed for ATA w.e.f 28.09.2011 due to which SNGPL shall be facing additional shortfall of approximately 80 MMCFD. In order to meet this additional shortfall and to ensure smooth operation of our transmission system, load management in industrial sector has been extended from 2 to 3 days per week".-PR
