Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that PPP led government is utilising sufficient amount on the uplift of rural areas across the country. The concept of this programme is to eradicate the discrimination between rural and urban areas in the country, she said.
Talking to women after inaugurating the Sui gas projects in adjoining village Chak Kareem on Sunday, she said that the provision of basic amenities like Sui gas, electricity and means of communication are on top of the agenda of the government.
It is the credit of People's government which has dragged these facilities in remote and politically neglected areas across the country, she said. The Information Minister said that we believe in practical work and endeavouring to resolve people's problems on priority basis in the country.
The leadership of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is making adequate efforts for converting Pakistan into a strong and prosperous country and elimination of poverty and protection of basic rights of the people is also top on government agenda and many steps have already been taken in this regard, she said. Dr. Firdous further said that PPP is the only representative of poor and suppressed people and would continue its efforts for their rights as they are the asset to the party.
On this occasion the Minister asked the parents to provide education facilities to their daughters for better future, adding that educated girls is a key to build economy and overcome social problems. The government is making strenuous efforts to accomplish Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's vision aimed at bringing women into mainstream, she said. The Minister added that the dream of national development could not be materialised without the involvement of women folk in overall development of the country.
