Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday rejected United States allegations against Pakistan pertaining to Haqqani Network saying the network was created and trained by Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Talking to reporters here at Rescue 15 after inspecting the weapons and explosives recovered from the terrorists recently arrested by Islamabad police, the Interior Minister rejected US accusation of the Haqqani network operating from Pakistan's soil, adding Haqqanis have no links with Pakistan and are operating from Afghanistan.
He said that Pakistan Army is fully capable of handling any kind of situation, adding that the entire nation stands in support of army, which comes to nation's rescue at every time of test.
Rejecting the US allegations pertaining to Haqqani network, the Interior Minister said that the network was raised and trained by the CIA, adding that the network is based in Afghanistan and Pakistan has nothing to do with it.
He said that Pakistan has been the worst victim of terrorism and so far the country has suffered over 36,000 deaths in war against terror.
Malik also alleged Afghanistan for illegal cross bordering between the two countries, saying the Pakistani government has been asking Kabul for the last three years to install biometric system at the border check posts to check illegal movement. He is of the view that it is hard to identify terrorists, as hundreds of people cross the border daily and without any proper immigration system. He said no one will be allowed to enter Pakistan without immigration clearance. He said that the cross border attacks by terrorists have had martyred Pakistani security officials.
Referring to recovery of weapons from the terrorists, he said that the government is considering declaring motorways and highways as federal territory so as to empower federal police to conduct search operations on the highways. Malik warned terrorists that every possible measure would be taken for the integrity of the country and no compromise will be made on Pakistan's sovereignty and integrity as Pakistan suffered a loss of 68 billion dollars in the fight against terrorism. He said the accused recently arrested by Islamabad police is a government servant.
He said the law enforcers have recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from different houses in Karachi, adding that youth are playing an important role in arrests of the terrorists and hoped the law-and-order situation in the country would be much better by next month. Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SP Sajid Kiyani, SP Investigation Ch. Liaqat Ali, SP Muhammad Ishaq Warraich and other police officials were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that Islamabad Police is endeavouring its best to safeguard the city and this force is role model for other law enforcement agencies.
