Promotion of local art: KPK patronises artists' community, says minister

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, Minister for Information and Culture, said that the government would provide full protection to artists' community, saying that it has patronised the artists' community for promotion of local art in the province. The Minister was talking to a delegation of Artists Equity Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa led by its patron-in-chief Youas Qiasi here on Saturday.
Secretary Culture Azmat Hanif Aurakzai and Director Culture Pervez Khan were also present on the occasion. Members of the delegation, while informing the Minister about their efforts for promotion of culture and solving problems, also expressed their resolve of every sacrifice for bringing peace to this land.
Mian Iftikhar said that the provincial government is working for preparation of stage dramas and documentaries on the life and achievements of our great heroes and personalities. Presently, he added the great Pashto poet Rehman Baba is selected, saying that the documentary work has been started. He expressed the hope that the proposed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa TV and Abaseen TV would provide great opportunities for performing local artists.
He further said that the wave of terror has badly affected Pakhtun culture, but the government has fully engaged to keep alive our rich Pakhtun culture. Mian Iftikhar Hussain assured that the artists will not be ignored and expressed wishes that the talented artists should come forward with passage of time. He said, for the purpose, programme for the students of schools is being started. He clarified that the government is encouraging the art instead of personality or financial position of any artist.
