Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 63,683 tonnes of cargo including 49,632 tonnes of import cargo, 14,051 tonnes of export cargo and 2,085 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 49,632 tonnes comprised of 6,752 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,854 tonnes of bulk cargo: 767 tonnes of wheat; 274 tonnes of soya been seeds; 2,468 tonnes of fertiliser; 2,345 tonnes of rock phosphate and 37,026 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,051 tonnes comprised of 11,761 tonnes of containerised cargo; 67 tonnes of general cargo and 2,223 tonnes of cement. Four ships namely APL Cyprine, Callao Bridge, Sea Farer and Lodestar Genesis with two container ships, bulk cargo ship and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz STX Symphony, Thien Quang and MT Quetta carrying two bulk cargo ships and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. A container ship namely Hyundai Independence expected to sail on Thursday, while five ships namely Rio Grand Express, Hadis, Caribbean Sea, MT Quetta and Royal Crystal-7 carrying three container ships, oil tanker and palm oil carrier respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Two vessels viz Atlantic Lily and Emirates Kabir carrying naphtha ship and container ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz OOCL Dalian, Kota Anggerik, APL Guangzhou, HS Challenger, YM Fuzhou, Blossom, Good President and Shaker-1 carrying five container ships, ethanol ship, coal carrier and general cargo ship are due to arrive on Friday.

The total export cargo includes 1,605 tonnes of cement. A chemical ship namely MT Sunrise Hamanasu is expected to sail on Thursday afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz MV Orient-II, Vinaline Sky, MT Bunga Alpinia, MT Sunrise Hamanasu and MT Kassos are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, palm oil, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Crisopigi Lady, Al-Soor-II, Nora Maersk, Maersk Daven Poilt and OOCL San Francisco carrying two diesel oil tankers and three container ships respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV Nora Maersk, CV Maersk Daven Poilt and CV OOCL San Francisco carrying three container ships are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday.
