Director General Livestock Sarwar Shaikh has informed that as many as 269 relief camps have been established in 23 districts where till September 17, 2011 as many as 2,608,083 heads of animals affected due to torrential rains have been attended.
In his progress report available to this office, the DG Livestock informed that due to torrential havoc rains, historical displacement of animal have been took place in whole Sindh. He said that keeping in view such difficult situation his management has dispatched 181 veterinary teams along with 535 Para vets and medicines, vaccination and drenched / Anti Parasitic injections.
He informed that out of 269 relief camps, 11 have been established in Tando Mohammad Khan, 18 at Badin, nine at Tando Allahyar, 11 at Mirpurkhas, three at Tharparkar, seven at Umerkot, six at Thatta, eight at Dadu, 46 at Shaheed Benazirabad, 17 at Shikarpur, 38 at Khairpur, 13 at Larkana, 12 at Noushehro Feroze, nine at Sanghar, five each at Jamshoro, Ghotki and Karachi, four at Sukkur, seven at Kashmore, 14 at Jacobabad, six at Hyderabad, nine at Matiari and six at Kamber/Shahdad Kot districts.
The Director General livestock further informed that total number of 2,608,083 animals were attended by veterinary teams upto September 17, 2011 out of which 1,198,988 large ruminant and 1,165,231 small ruminant were vaccinated, while 112,371 animals provided treatment. Besides, 131,493 animals drenched anti-parasitic injection.
