The Contact Group on Dengue Control here on Tuesday approved a 'Co-ordination Plan for Dengue Control'. The Contact Group on Dengue Control with an active involvement of provincial representatives was constituted as per the recommendations of a joint consensus building session of the Planning Commission of Pakistan and World Health Organisation (WHO), which was held on September 13.
The group approved co-ordination plan for dengue control in its first meeting held here with Dr Talib Lashari, Advisor Planning Commission on Health in the chair. Director Health Services Punjab Dr Mubashir Malik, Sindh Health Secretary Dr Shakeel A. Malik, Director Epidemics Balochistan Dr Farooq Azam, Director General Health KP, Dr Muhammad Sharif, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Pirzada, Dr Mussa Rahim of WHO and others participated in the meting. The meeting formed four sub-groups to implement the Co-ordination Plan for Dengue Control in provinces.
After the meeting, Dr Talib Lashari told business Recorder that various tasks were given to these sub-groups. He said that first sub-group was given the task to mobilise community to participate in the campaign against Dengue virus while the second sub-group was tasked to ensure quality of Dengue Vector control insecticides.
He said that third group to follow WHO clinical guidelines for case management of dengue patient and forth sub-group has been given the responsibility to flow the information about figure of dengue patients and death across the country. He said that focal persons of these sub-groups have been appointed. He said that a meting of focal persons would be held on Wednesday to chalk out strategy how to support the provinces.
