Administrative Judge withdraws terrorism charges against KESC workers
Administrative Judge (AJ) of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs), Karachi Division Justice Maqbool Baqar on Monday ordered deletion of Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) from the case against leaders and employees of KESC Labour Union. The court issued this order on the application moved by the Union for deleting section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act from the FIR against its two leaders and 28 employees.
The FIR was registered at Defence police station on complaint by KESC management against 30 employees including the Union leaders for attacking its head office, injuring security guards and employees, damaging vehicles and property of the Corporation on August 29.
After registration of the case, the police arrested 30 accused including Chairman of KESC Labour Union Akhlaq Ahmed and General Secretary Haji Shahzad and obtained eight days physical remand of the accused from the court of the Administrative Judge of ATC. After expiry of remand period, the court sent all accused to jail. After the deletion of ATA's Section 7, the case will be tried in Sessions Court instead of Anti-Terrorism Court.
