The members elected on Zonal Committee include Mohammad Javaid Aslam, Naeem Ahmed, Mohammad Rafi Sony, Mohammad Tanveer, Mohammad Awais Humayun, Shafiq Butt and Ahmed Mansha. The newly elected office bearers will resume their office from 1st October 2011.
The newly elected chairman of the association Usman Jawaad said that knitwear export industry has emerged as the largest employment providing sector of the economy. He explained that the industry was facing numerous problems due to war like situation in the country otherwise they could do a lot more. Foreign importers were reluctant to visit Pakistan for placing export orders.
He therefore demanded that the Ministry of Textile Industry should immediately take up the issue with the Ministry of Finance for early release of related funds so that exports of the country should not suffer. Usman was concerned about prolonged loadshedding of electricity and gas, which have practically crippled the value added knitwear garment sector in particular.
