Police asked to submit challan against KESC workers

Administrative Judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs), Karachi Division Justice Maqbool Baqar has directed the police to submit challan of the case against leaders and employees of KESC Labour Union on September 19. The court issued this directive while hearing the application moved by the Union for deleting section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act from the FIR against its two leaders and 28 employees.
The FIR was registered at Defence police station on complaint by KESC management against 30 employees including the Union leaders for attacking its head office, injuring security guards and employees, damaging vehicles and property of the Corporation on August 29.
After registration of the case, the police arrested 30 accused including Chairman of KESC Akhlaq Ahmed and General Secretary Haji Shahzad and obtained eight days physical remand of the accused from the court of the Administrative Judge of ATC. After expiry of remand period, the court sent all accused to jail.
During last hearing, the prosecution showed the footage of the incident on which the defence lawyer expressed reservation over it. The court ordered to produce the footage of the incident aired by the private TV channels on the next date of hearing.
