A former chairman of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Dr Mushtaq Noorwala, has urged the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date of filing sales tax return till such time as consensus is built and the new form is acceptable to all stakeholders.
In a letter to the FBR chairman, he has invited his attention towards the new sales tax return form, placed on the FBR website, which is so complicated and has perturbed a large number of registered members. He observed that the form is not designed keeping in consideration of the ground realities, as it does not have provision/access for the NIL return filer/exempt suppliers, nor there is any room left for them to file the return comfortably.
He has suggested continuation of the old forms, which were in practice prior to the issuance of this new return form, in larger interest of registered persons and in order to save the taxpayers from hassle. He also urged the FBR chairman to take all stake holders including trade organisations and FPCCI into confidence and design a simpler form to achieve the desired goal and objective.
