CNG holidays: van, rickshaw owners fleecing passengers

The daily commuters have expressed concern over the attitude of van and rickshaw owners who are fleecing them by taking the advantage of the weekly CNG holidays. Short number of public transport coincide with overcharging in the city have also contributed a lot to make the life of daily commuters miserable.
Owing to poor public transport system, the people have to use vans and rickshaws to reach their work places due to which they were being charged extra fare especially during the CNG holidays. "I have to pay Rs 50 extra to reach at my shop located Chowk Shadman," said a commuter Ashraf while standing at Railway Station.
Some other passengers-Shahid, Abbas and Awais told APP that the rickshaw owners were using LPG in their three wheelers exploiting the passengers by taking advantage of the CNG shortage and scarcity of public transport. They also complained that a large number of vans on city routes received extra fair without completing its route.
