The National Assembly's special committee on Karachi and Quetta has approved the Terms of References (ToRs) to probe into the targeted killings in Karachi and worsening law and order situation in Balochistan, which will present its report to the parliament within two months.
The committee, which met here with Syed Khurshid Shah in the chair, approved the ToRs, which will look into the wave of targeted killings in Karachi and worsening law and order situation in Quetta. The committee will review the power given to police and other law enforcement agencies in Karachi and Balochistan. It will finalise a strong draft that will work for the eradication of deteriorating security situation in the financial hub of the country and restive Balochistan province.
The committee has decided that it will make all-out efforts to come up with the best possible solution to cope with the poor security situation in the Balochistan especially in Karachi with the goal to permanently bring peace. Earlier, a two-member sub-committee comprising Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Zahid Hamid had framed the ToRs and sent them to the committee for approval. The ToRs contains the mechanism to monitor the situation for achieving the goal of lasting peace in Karachi and Balochistan.
