Five of a family among 10 electrocuted

Heavy rains that lashed the city in the afternoon claimed 10 lives including five members of a family at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. According to the rescue and police sources, five members of a family were electrocuted in the limits of Eidgah police station.
Police said the victim Mehak, daughter of Imran, was initially electrocuted and then rest of the family members including Aneesa, 30, wife of Majid, Nadia, 25, wife of Imran, Azra, daughter of Parvaiz and Khizra, daughter of Minhas, who wanted to safe Mehak's live were also electrocuted. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) and later handed over to their heirs. Meanwhile, five more persons were electrocuted at Haroonabad, I.I Chundrigar Road, Model Colony, Pak Colony and New Karachi.
The sudden outburst of clouds resulting in heavy rainfall, which inundated different parts of the city including M.A Jinnah road, I.I Chundrigar road, Sharea Pakistan, Sharea Faisal, Garden, Banaras, Lasbella, etc, creating problems for the office-goers. Although the rains started at 2PM, the people are remained stranded on the road because of severe gridlock at all main arteries till late night.
