Ukrainian domestic milling wheat prices have risen slightly over the past week due to an increase in demands by exporters, analyst UkrAgroConsult said on Friday. "Exporters purchase wheat actively, exports are gradually growing," UkrAgroConsult said in a report. The consultancy said Ukrainian soft milling wheat cost 1,780 hryvnias ($223) per tonne EXW as of September 8 against 1,760 hryvnia ($220) a week earlier.
UkrAgroConsult also said export prices for Ukrainian soft milling wheat fell by $2 to $270-$273 FOB Black Sea. The consultancy stated that the price of feed wheat remained unchanged at $255-$259 per tonne FOB, while domestic price rose by $3-$4 to about 1,540-1,620 hryvnias per tonne EXW.
Ukraine's Farm Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk told Reuters this week that the former Soviet republic had harvested 22.2 million tonnes of wheat clean weight in 2011 compared with 16.8 million in 2010. He said Ukraine could export about 10 million tonnes of wheat in the 2011/12 season against 4.2 million in 2010/11. According to preliminary export data, Ukraine sold abroad about 700,000 tonnes of wheat in the first two months of this season and traders say export duties prevent a jump in shipments.
