Reconciliation key to government's political philosophy: Firdous
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that reconciliation was the key to the political philosophy of the government to help it address key national issues. Talking to groups of Pakistani Community here, she said the government had adopted the principal of consensus in politics, which had given it leverage to concentrate on national matters, instead of limiting itself to mere party politics.
She told a group of expatriates belonging to Pakistan Peoples' Party that the party leadership valued the sacrifices of its workers for democracy and their hard work abroad and termed them an asset for the party. She highlighted the policies of the government it was pursuing to encourage party workers living and working abroad.
She also informed them of the steps being taken by the government to improve the economy, introduce tax reforms and bring fiscal discipline to the system. She said the government was giving top priority to political solution of problems of Karachi and Balochistan. Talking to a group of PML (Q) workers, she said the government had formed political alliance in the larger national interest. She said terrorism and extremism were the biggest challenges to the society and those could only be addressed through united efforts. She paid glowing tributes to the expatriates and acknowledged their record foreign remittances.
