Secretary Local Government Punjab Khizer Hayat Gondal has said the Punjab government is providing additional resources to the district administration and concerned departments to stop spread of dengue virus. He was presiding over a meeting on Thursday at commissioner office committee room to review the progress to control dengue fever in Faisalabad division.
Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain was also present in the meeting while DCOs of Faisalabad, Jhang and Chiniot, Naseem Sadiq, Shahid Niaz, Dr Irshaad Ahmad and Addl. Collector Revenue T. T. Singh briefed the meeting regarding the measures taken for the fumigation and treatment of the dengue patients. They also informed the future line of action in this regard.
He said that on the instructions of Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif efforts were made on war footing to control dengue fever. Secretary Local Government informed that emergency committees had also been constituted at town level for ensuring the co-ordinated efforts to control dengue virus. He asked the DCOs, officers of the health department, TMOs and ACs to review the daily progress report for controlling the dengue fever and repeated spray should also be carried out in the most affected areas.
He said that mass awareness campaign should be launched with the help of NGOs, civil societies and the media for properly highlighting the precautionary and preventive measures to avoid dengue fever. He appointed the Director Health Services as focal person to get the details and progress regarding dengue virus situation in the division. The divisional commissioner directed that badly affected localities needed to be fumigated as quickly as possible.
