The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has demanded the Punjab government to provide security to the doctors at all teaching hospitals of the provincial capital.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, YDA Central office-bearers Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Khuda Bakhsh, Dr Ghulam Qasim and others said the capital city police officer (CCPO) Lahore was unable to provide security to the teaching hospitals in the city despite clear-cut directions from the Inspector General Punjab police.
The YDA concerned that unfortunately the trend of manhandling on duty female doctors and later strikes in the emergency wards are becoming a practice due to which patients have to suffer a lot.
The YDA appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister and IGP Punjab to direct the CCPO Lahore to provide security to the on duty doctors in the teaching hospitals of Lahore.
