'September good for sugar cane sowing'

The Punjab Agriculture Department informed the sugar cane growers on Sunday that for good production, farmers must choose heavy loam soil. First farmers should plough land deeply then use plank and after that make 10-12 inches deep linings at a distance of four feet.
Experts said whole month of September was good for sowing of sugar cane. Farmers should use sugar cane varieties of CPF 246, 247, 243, 240, HSF 242, CP 77-400, CP 72-2086, CP 433-33 and CPF 237 as they were very good. Middle varieties are SPF 245, 234, 213, SPFG 26.
He asked farmers not to use varieties which has trition, COL 54, CO 1148 (India), COL 29, COL 44, BL 4, L 116, 118, SPF 238, BF 162 because such varieties affect sugar cane production.
