12 suspects including four target killers arrested

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Sunday claimed to have arrested some 12 suspects including four alleged target killers in separate raids in different areas of the metropolis. According to official sources, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested an alleged target killer from Lines Area. The suspect, who was identified as Shahzoor Yousuf, is said to have admitted of slaughtering five persons.
The SIU officials have recovered weapons and a slaughtered body on his information from North Karachi, Sector B-5 area. Another target killer, who was identified as Arshad Baloch, was arrested from Sharah-e-Noor Jahan police remits. Police claimed that the accused had killed a man, Riaz.
Similarly, two more suspects were detained by Rangers in separate raids in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. These accused, who were identified as Shakeel and Asif, were apprehended by Rangers from a house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar over suspicions of being involved in target killings. The sources said the suspected were shifted to some undisclosed location for further investigation.
Meanwhile, over a half dozen suspects were detained by Rangers during search operations in Bakra Piri area of Lyari, Jahanabad of Pak colony and other areas.
An alleged extortionist was arrested by Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) in a raid in New Town are. Official sources said on a tip-off the AVCC team conducted a raid in New Town area and arrested the accused, Shahid, who is said to be involved in several extortion cases. They said the team had also recovered three Kalashnikovs, two rifles and 1,000 live bullets from his possession.
