Navy officer among seven killed in Karachi

There is no respite in the spree of targeted killings during Eid festival as seven persons including a navy officer and an activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were killed in various parts of the metropolis during last three days of Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to police, a lieutenant commander and his friend were shot dead at North Karachi in the limits of Sir Syed police station. The incident took place at North Karachi sector 11-B where lieutenant commander Nasir, 35, son of Nafees along with his friend Iqbal son of Ashiq was targeted when he was going at home after performing Asr prayers at Noor Islam Masjid.
The victim Nasir received single bullet on his head and died on the spot, while his friend also sustained fatal bullet wound on his chest and succumbed to his injuries in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). SHO Changaiz Khan said the victim, who was the officer of Pakistan Navy, was deployed in Dockyard and added that he arrived in North Karachi to meet his mother. Police registered an FIR 448/11 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's brother Yawar.
An activist of PPP was gunned down at Orangi Town sector 9-A in the limits of Orangi Town police station. The victim 36-year-old Rashid son of Basheer was targeted in drive-by shooting when he was sitting at his mobile shop. Police said the victim used to run a mobile shop in same area where he resided and was also an activist of PPP.
A man was shot dead while his brother sustained bullet wounds near Rado Apartment in the jurisdiction of Gulistan Jauhar police station. The victim 30-year-old Arbab Mirza son of Tahir Mirza and his younger brother Rizwan were assaulted when they were standing at his apartment's gate located at block 14 Gulistan Jauhar.
Resultantly, both victims received bullet fatal bullet injuries and were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment where they succumbed to their injuries. A bullet-riddled body of youth was found on Maripur road near Railway Crossing in the precincts of Docks police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained and the victim appeared to be Baloch.
Yet another man was shot dead near Mira Naka in the remit of Sher Shah police station. Police said the victim, who wore Shalwar Kameez and appeared to be Memon, was targeted at Mira Naka. A teenager girl Areesha 17, daughter of Abdul Rasheed who received stray bullets at Chakiwara on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, succumbed to her injuries at CHK.
