Rasheedabad Chowk: Prime Minister seeks cost estimate for building flyover

Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday issued directives for working out the cost estimate for launching a project for smooth flow of traffic at Rasheedabad Chowk here. Talking to Commissioner, Khurrum Ali Agha and District Co-ordination Officer, Zahid Akhtar Zaman at the airport before leaving for Lahore, the Prime Minister directed them to prepare cost estimate for widening the chowk and building a flyover there.
It would be later decided whether widening of the chowk or building of a flyover would be feasible. He also asked the officials to work out the estimate for compensation to the shopkeepers and owners of shopping plazas, which would be affected by the execution of the project, said Prime Minister's Media Co-ordinator, Khawaja Rizwan Alam. He added that most of the development projects including flyovers and widening of roads have almost been completed except for Rasheedabad Chowk.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the Prime Minister handed over Rs 10 million cheque to MPC President, Shakeel Anjum and Rs seven million cheque to the President Photojournalists Association, Zafarul Islam and Electronic Camera-persons' Union President, Nayyar Gardezi.
