Shalamar Hospital's young doctors on Tuesday resigned en bloc as their demand for raise in their salaries was rejected by the hospital's administration. Young Doctors Association's office bearers, Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Ghulam Qasim, Dr Khuda Bkhsh, Dr Murtaza Bloch, Dr Talha Saad, Dr Khalid Idrees and Dr Mohammad Khawar Khan in a joint statement said the administration of the Shalamar Hospital refused to raise the salaries of the young doctors as a result doctors have resigned en bloc which is a matter of great concern for the doctors community.
They said that private medical colleges/private hospitals should raise the salaries of the house officers, postgraduate residents and medical officers to Rs 24000, Rs 42,500, and Rs 50,000 respectively.
