23 passengers sustain minor injuries as PIA plane hit by air-pocket

As many as 23 passengers onboard a Pakistan International Airline's (PIA) flight from Jeddah to Lahore sustained minor injuries when the plane was hit by an air-pocket here on Tuesday.
According to a Civil Aviation Authority's (CAA) spokesperson, PK-7322, an extra service flight carrying 433 passengers, was hit by the air-pocket at Bahawalpur, causing turbulence in the flight. During the turbulence, 23 passengers sustained minor injuries (including a head injury).
He said the passengers sustained injuries for not fastening their seat belts. However, after flight safely landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport, the CAA medical team led by Dr Shaheena, gave first aid to the injured passengers and later sent home. He also clarified that to his knowledge no passenger was sent to a hospital for treatment, as was reported earlier by a private news channel.
Meanwhile, PIA spokesperson said the passengers sustained minor injuries after the flight was hit by an air-pocket and only those were injured who did not fastened their seat belts. He contradicted the news that the PIA flight had to make an emergency landing. Meanwhile, one of the passengers said it was a scary experience for him, as he thought the plane was about to crash and hence he started to recite verses from Quran.
