A total of 4,298 patients were admitted in Civil Hospital Burns Centre was during 2005 to June 20, 2011, out of them 2,425 were discharged after treatment whereas 1,684 expired. The burns center was established at civil hospital under the patronage of a philanthropic group "friends of burns center" in collaboration of Ministry of Health Sindh providing latest medical facilities free of cost.
The center has a capacity of 60 beds for burn evictions, 9 bedded intensive care unit, three operation theaters, 24 hours emergency treatment facility and well-stocked pharmacy. A total of 77 patients were admitted in the ward with burns of acid during January 2007 to June 2011 out of them 44 were male and 33 were female. Total four patients expired whereas 69 discharged after treatment.
A total of 257 patients were admitted with electric burns during the same period. Out of them 232 were male and 24 were females, 37 expired while 199 discharged after treatment. A total of 173 patients were admitted with scald burns. Out of them 90 were male and 83 were female; 15 expired and 155 were discharged.
2,791 patients were admitted with fire burns, 1,371 were male and 1,415 were female; out of them 1,127 expired while 1,550 were released during the same period. During 2008 to June 2011 a total of 280 children were treated with different burns. Out of them 150 were male and 130 were female, 17 expired where 254 were released after treatment.
