Tight security arrangements were witnessed at Supreme Court during the hearing of suo motu case regarding targeted killings in Karachi. Special arrangements were also seen in the premises of the court to ensure foolproof security. Heavy contingents of police and rangers were deployed in the surroundings of Supreme Court to avert any untoward incident.
Passes were issued to the petitioners, journalists, respondents, and counsel. Entry in the court building was allowed after frisking and searching of bags, purses, etc. A five-member special bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry began court proceedings of the case in Courtroom-1 at Branch Registry, Karachi.
