Yesterday's Press Conference has exposed the ugly face of democracy. Now the debate should not center on whether all the facts stated are authentic or not. The fact of the matter is that the intricate nature of how democracy as an institution operates has been unveiled before everyone.
Politics in democracy focuses on getting the most out of the exploitation of the grievances of people. In democracy, various segments of society are made to feel compartmentalised along lines of ethnicity, language or areas. Hence, it becomes easier to pitch one group against the other, by turning grievances into hatred.
In the subsequent chaos, calls for unity are fortified along lines of division, and this solidifies the fragmentation of society. As a concerned citizen, living in Pakistan, I am deeply upset with the continuation of this paranoid institution of democracy, which is akin to demon-crazy. Pakistan needs to abandon this failed system, and establish the caliphate.
