Salu teachers call off strike

A group of teachers of Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu) has called off their protest, says a statement on Monday. It said they agreed with the decision of the Dean's Committee regarding the award of scholarships to what was termed as weaker departments. The statement said that talks were held with Salu Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Nelofer Shaikh, at her office with teachers.
It said the meeting agreed to award remaining two seats of scholarship of Ph.D. strengthening the infrastructure of the Salu, Khairpur, under faculty development programme in two weaker departments ie Public Administration and Pharmacy as recommended by the Dean's Committee. On the occasion, Professor Dr Nilofer Shaikh in her address said, "It was our collective duty to serve this institution." She said in the capacity of Vice Chancellor she was resolving the teachers' genuine problems without any discrimination.
