Sales Tax collection from ship breakers: FBR constitutes monitoring bodies
the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has constituted committees for monitoring of collection of sales tax from ship breakers. In this connection, the FBR on Monday issued Sales Tax General Order 10 of 2011. According to the notification, the Board has constituted committees comprising following members for monitoring of the collection of sales tax from Steel Ship Breakers Sector under Chapter XI of the Sales Tax Special Procedure Rules, 2007.
The Division/Area of Karachi and Quetta/Gaddani would cover committee members including Dewan Rizwan Farooqui, Karachi, Suleman Ahmed Jiwani, Karachi, Muhammad Sharif Paracha, Karahci and Shoaib Sultan Khawaja, Karachi. The Chief Commissioners of the respective Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) or an officer not below the rank of Commissioner nominated by him shall be Chairman of the Monitoring Committee to monitor the activity and collection of sales tax from Steel sector within their respective jurisdiction. The Chairman of the monitoring committee shall hold regular meetings on his own or on request of the members of the committee so that due tax is collected in an effective and efficient manner from this sector, the FBR added.
