Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned Sindh senior minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza's allegations against MQM and its party leadership, terming the allegations a conspiracy against it.
Dr Zulfiqar Mirza earlier on Sunday while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club alleged that MQM's chief Altaf Hussain in a meeting with him in London told him that US wanted to break Pakistan and MQM would not stop killing of Pakhtuns in Karachi. He further said that Sindh Education Minister Mir Mazharul Haq was also present in the meeting.
In a statement after an emergency meeting of MQM's Rabita Committee simultaneously held in Karachi and London, Rabita Committee said that Mirza's statement was nothing but an effort to demoralise MQM. It added that the allegations had also been levelled against MQM in the past but all the allegations were wrong.
It said that Jinnah Pur allegation has also been levelled against MQM that later proved baseless. MQM's Rabita Committee demand of President Asif Ali Zardari and senior leadership of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to clear their position regarding the statements. The committee said that Mirza tried to provoke and incite people but it asked the citizens of Karachi to remain calm and peaceful.
