The Met Office Weather Advisory has forecast that widespread heavy monsoon rains in the country during the coming week may cause severe flooding in lower Sindh. The advisory forecast that scattered rain/thundershowers are expected in lower Sindh on Monday/Tuesday. All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert during the coming week from August 29 to September 3.
It further said widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls expected from Wednesday to Saturday in most parts of Sindh including Karachi. It advised the irrigation authorities in Sindh to reduce the inflows in the canals during the coming week. Close monitoring of Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) was also advised to avoid the possible breaches due to heavy rains in the coming week.
The advisory said that monsoon has been active in Pakistan and its currents are continuously penetrating in the upper parts of the country, causing scattered rains.
