Arms licences computerisation: Nadra sets up 15 centres in Lahore region

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Lahore Region has designated its 15 centres in the region to convert manual arms licences into computerised in line with the federal government's drive for eradication of illegal arms from the country.
According to the Nadra General Manager of Lahore Region, Muhammad Iqbal, the government is launching a campaign on August 29, 2011 under which manual arms licences issued by the federal government would be converted into computerised after necessary verification from Nadra office.
As many as five centres have been established in Lahore for this purpose at Shami Road, Samanabad, Peco Road, Baghbanpura, and Defence. Similarly, two centres in Gujranwala (Corporation Building GT Road and Executive Centre near New Railway Station), two centres in Sialkot (Church Road and Kotli Loharan), two centres in Okara (District Council Stadium and Executive Centre Tehsil Road) have been set up for verification and conversion of manual licences into computerised, he said. However, one centre each in Narowal, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib has also been designated for this purpose which would start their working from August 29, he added.
Iqbal said that the task regarding conversion of arms licences would be completed by September 30. The application form for computerised arms licence would be available at all these centres while these can also be downloaded from the Minister of Interior's website ie www.interior.gov.pk, he added.
He said that notices containing necessary information regarding computerised arms licence and fees have been displayed at all these designated centres. Special counters have been created, and staff has been deployed on the counters to facilitate applicants. He asked the people to submit their applications for computerised licence before the expiry of deadline of September 30, 2011.
