PML-Q central leader and Senior Federal Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Saturday said Shahbaz Sharif should focus on Punjab and improve its situation instead of indulging in Sindh affairs. "Crimes rate has increased manifold in Punjab while dacoities and abduction for ransom cases are on the rise," he told reporters.
After visiting family of abducted Shahbaz Taseer, the son of slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseer here, he said bandits and extortionists were ruling all over while law abiding citizens had been left on the mercy of hardened criminals. He said ill-conceived and autocratic policies of the government had affected the departments adversely.
Answering a question, he alleged the Punjab government was incompetent and incapable to handle Shahbaz Taseer's case. He, however, suggested if the government wanted to bring law and order under control and nab kidnappers of Shahbaz Taseer, it should hold joint investigation through federal and provincial agencies.
He said Lahore city in which the chief minister himself residing, was governed by looters and thieves. He recalled that during his tenure as a chief minister, law and order situation was fully under control. He asked Shahbaz Sharif that what formula or policy he devised for peace in Punjab province. "We are giving the government ample time as at the end of the day, people will be the better judge" Pervaiz added.
Referring to the World bank's report, the PML leader said had Shahbaz's government continued his educational policy of his tenure, the province would have high literacy rate by now. He said Shahbaz Sharif-led government had lost its credibility among people and no one was ready to trust on him.
