On Tuesday, the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) working was closed at 12:30 pm, some 90 minutes earlier than normal closing time, due to law and order situation in the city. The KSE in its notice said that due to the prevailing law and order situation in the city, the governing board of the KSE had decided to suspend all markets at 12:30 pm.
The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCP) also announced that due to law and order situation and non-availability of same day fund transfer facility of banks, NCSS Clearing and Settlement of Tuesday, August 23, 2011 had been merged with the Clearing and Settlement of Wednesday, August 24, 2011, so as to avoid inconvenience in clearing and settlement to the clearing members.
