In order to provide better livestock services and establishing a comprehensive milk marketing system in Punjab, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister Livestock & Agriculture Punjab, Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh, here on Tuesday. New milk marketing system, milk collection, awareness & education of livestock farmers, fodder production, breed improvement & provision of technical assistance were brought under discussion during the meeting.
The minister said that Pakistan at the moment is producing 46-billion litre milk annually and ranked third in the world in this regard, but milk processing and marketing and value addition is tremendously lacking here. He said that in District Vehari, an NGO is providing livestock services at the doorsteps and also establishing new system of milk collection and processing. He constituted a sub-committee for studying the same work and submitting proposals and recommendations in this regard.
