Pakistan cricket received a big jolt with coach Waqar Younis announcing his resignation and calling Zimbabwe tour as his last assignment with the Pakistan team. He announced his resignation at a news conference here on Saturday after a training session of the team preparing for the tour of Zimbabwe.
"I have sent my resignation to Pakistan Cricket board last week and the coming tour to Zimbabwe will be my last assignment with Pakistan cricket as PCB has accepted my resignation," Younis said. He said that he has taken the decision purely on personal grounds, which also includes his own health but did not specify the type of ailment he is suffering from.
He clarified, "I have no differences with anyone and I have taken this decision after thorough consideration and keeping in mind my own situation". He said he had good time with Pakistan team and did his best to improve its performance as a coach. "I would say it was a very challenging assignment for me as the team went though an uneven path because of its involvement in a number of controversies and scandals.
