It gives me immense pleasure to know that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry is holding Achievement Awards and honouring the outstanding businessmen from various sectors for their wonderful performance in their respective businesses.
This ceremony is a contribution towards promotion of trade and industry and encouragement to the businessmen who earn not only their own livelihood but also provide numerous opportunities of employment to the nation. Pakistan is adopting long-term policies for the expansion of its industrial base and quality production in order to generate the much-needed surplus production for exports. Pakistan is chalking out new strategies to create an enabling environment required for fast increasing global competition.
I urge Pakistani businessmen to explore new markets for traditional and non-traditional products. There is an adequate scope for engineering products, electric and electronic products, auto parts, fruits and vegetables to diversify our export profile. I congratulate LCCI President Mr Shahzad Ali Malik, Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad and Vice President Mr Sohail Azhar for organising these Awards which is a very good precedent for other institutions to follow the role model set by the LCCI leadership.
