The Karachi Port handled 65,855 tonnes of cargo including 29,143 tonnes of import cargo, 36,712 tonnes of export cargo and 2,896 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 29,143 tonnes comprised of 16,710 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,555 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,500 tonnes of coal; 1,055 tonnes of rock phosphate and 1,878 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,712 tonnes comprised of 28,907 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,505 tonnes of bulk cargo: 315 tonnes of cement; 1,190 tonnes of talcum powder and 6,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Six ships namely Ital Onore, Sima Singapore, Hyundai Independence, STX Patriakos, YM Uranus and Ginga Saker with four container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz Ginga Saker, CSC Risingsun, Eships Maya, Baltic Cruiser, BM Pride, Bella, Emirates Kabir and APL Shicago carrying three oil tankers, two general cargo ships and three container ships respectively are currently at the berths. An oil tanker namely Eships Maya expected to sail on Saturday, while three ships namely Emirates Kabir, APL Shicago and Prem Aarna with two container ships and coal carrier respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
A steel carrier namely African Falcon due to arrive on Saturday, while eight vessels viz MT Karachi, Vira Bhum, MOL Success, Daffodil, APL Shenzhen, Bunga Raya Empat, Kota Akbar and Abdullatif S carrying crude oil tanker, six container ships and cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
The total export cargo of 17,833 tonnes includes 1,645 tonnes of corn; 3,653 tonnes of cement and 12,635 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely CV Saigon Express, CV Glory and MT Al-Salam-II sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Sichem Defence is expected to sail on Saturday morning.
A total number of twelve vessels MV Tycoon-II, MV Alaska-II, MV Alexi-I, MV Hai Yu, CV Glory, CV Saigon Express, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Quetta, MT Sichem Defence, MT Bunga Aster, MV New Sun and MV Pearls of Jubal Ali are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, corn, containers, canola seeds, diesel oil, furnace oil, phosphoric acid, palm oil and fertiliser respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely Olympic Spirit and MT Gent carrying furnace oil and LPG respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A LPG carrier namely MV Gent expected to take berth at Liquid Cargo Terminal on Saturday. A container ship namely CV ACX Refflesia is due to arrive at Port Qasim.
