Speakers on Saturday expressing great concern over the recent spate of violence in the country criticised some government measures in connection with Criminal Law. However, recent reforms in the FCR and other regulations applicable to Fata were appreciated as a first step which the speakers said will bring Fata in the mainstream of national life and protect all inhabitants against illegal and arbitrary actions.
Representative of legal fraternity were addressing a workshop organised by Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) here in the premises of the Supreme Court. Later, a press release was issued by the SCBA and PCA, which stated that the participants took a serious note of the escalation in violence and denounced some of the measures taken by the government relating to the Criminal Law. It added that the two regulations namely Actions in Aid of Civil Power 2011 enforced in relation to FATA and PATA are violative of fundamental rights provided for in the Constitution.
