First liver transplant successfully conducted

Doctors of Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Friday successfully conducted a liver transplant for the first time in country's history. The surgery, headed by chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital Amir Raza, was carried out by a team of doctors including Dr Tariq Bangash, Dr Amir Latif and Dr Omer. The 12-hour long transplant was done of patient Amir Raza, a resident of Sialkot.
According to doctors, the transplant patient is recovering fast after the landmark operation was conducted by a team of Pakistani doctors. The liver transplant centre at the Sheikh Zayed was inaugurated a year ago by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) with the total cost of Rs 400 million.
