The Karachi Port handled 75,368 tonnes of cargo including 48,240 tonnes of import cargo, 27,128 tonnes of export cargo and 4,166 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 48,240 tonnes comprised of 29,109 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,750 tonnes of bulk cargo: 10,000 tonnes of coal; 1,750 tonnes of rock phosphate and 7,381 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,128 tonnes comprised of 23,828 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Cap George, Lindavia and Angel No 1 with two container ships and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz Hyundai Independence, Sima Singapore and Angel No 1 carrying two container ships and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely YM Uranus, Ginga Saker and Sima Singapore with base oil tanker, oil tanker and container ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday, while four ships namely STX Patriakos, Hyundai Independence, Bella and Prem Aarna with three container ships and coal carreir respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Four vessels viz APL Chicago, Emirates Kabir, YM Fuzhou, and New Activity with three container ships and crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two container vessels viz BM Pride and African Falcon are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 28,710 tonnes includes 542 tonnes of corn and 28,186 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Nora Maersk and MT Chem Road Sea sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely MT Al-Soor-II, CV Glory and CV Saigon Express are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of twelve vessels CV Nora Maersk, CV Glory, CV Saigon Express, MV Tycoon-II, MV Alaska-II, MV Alexi-I, MV Hai Yu, MV New Sun, MV Pearls of Jubal Ali, MT Sichem Defiance, MT Chemroad Sea and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea, corn, canola seeds, phosphoric acid, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Three ships namely MT Quetta, Olympic Spirit and Bunga Aster carrying furnace oil and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz MT Quetta and Bunga Aster carrying furnace oil and palm oil are expected to take berths at FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. Four ships namely CV MSC Magali, Maersk Wyoming, ACX Refflesia and MV Angels with three container ships and chemicals carrier are due to arrive at the Port Qasim.
