Balochistan Assembly adopts two bills

The lawmakers in the session of Balochistan Assembly Thursday passed two bills on prisons and prisoners act respectively. The assembly sitting started with Member Panel of Chairmen, Mir Abdul Rehman Jamali in the chair. Balochistan Minister for Jails, Malik Sultan Muhammad Tareen moved "The Prisons (Balochistan) Amendment) Bill, 2011 Bill No 7 of 2011.
The minister also tabled another bill" The Prisoners (Balochistan) Amendment Bill 2011, Bill No 8 of 2011. The house unanimously adopted both the bills. According to the statement of objects and reasons of the bill, Federal Shariat Court by means of its judgement, dated 28-08-200,9 had directed the relevant government functionaries to make amendments in Prisoners Act and Rules to the extent of those provisions which have been declared repugnant to the injunctions of Islam.
The statement further said as such the amendments in Prisons Act, 1894 (Act No XI of 1894) are proposed in compliance with the judgement of Federal Shariat Court. The questions of the question-hour were deferred, as minister concerned was not present in the house. After completion of other proceedings of the assembly, the chair adjourned the house till Saturday (tomorrow).
