Interior Ministry has reversed its decision regarding the validation of old arms licenses issued by the ministry and decided to extend validation date of old arms licenses up to September 30, 2011. The decision was taken in a meeting held here at Interior Ministry with Interior Minister Rehman Malik in the chair, which was attended by Secretary Interior Khwaja Siddiq Akbar, Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and senior officials of the ministry.
The meeting reviewed the earlier announcement of the Interior Minister regarding validation of old Arms Licenses issued by the Ministry of Interior by August 31, 2011 and it was decided to extend the deadline till September 30, 2011. The minister directed the Nadra to facilitate the people coming for revalidation of arms licenses from Nadra.
He said that all district level offices of Nadra must accept requests for revalidation. Arms License's holders have been requested to bring original computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), original Arms Licence and Application Form duly filled in, when they come to Nadra office. Government Licence fee has been waived and only a nominal fee of Rs 500 will be charged from the applicants.
