Secretary Health Punjab Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan has directed all the EDOs (H) and Medical Superintendents of government hospitals that the Standard Of Procedures (SOPs) set for emergency must be implemented in hospitals and training of operating life saving equipment also be arranged for paramedics. He said that rehearsal sessions for paramedical staff for providing emergency medical treatment also be organised.
He issued these directions while presiding over a review meeting of performance of DHQ, THQ hospitals and health centres of district Bahawlapur in his office. Additional Secretary (Tech) Mushtaq Ahmed Sulehriya, Addl. Secretary (Development) Moazzam Usman, DG Health Dr. Aslam Chaudhry, Deputy Secretary Saleha Saeed, EDO (H) Bahawalpur and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Secretary Health stressed upon the officers to improve the emergency services of government hospitals. He directed that paramedical staff also be trained to operate life saving equipment like Defibrillators so that in case of emergency, precious lives could be saved. He said that Medical Superintendents also responsible to provide safe atmosphere to the patients and their attendants.
He directed that hanging electric wires, broken switchboards immediately be repaired and open main holes also be covered to avoid any unpleasant incident. He directed that all EDOs (H) would submit a certificate to the Health Department regarding the availability of essential drugs in his subordinate hospitals, functioning of medical equipment, emergency arrangements and foolproof public safety in the hospitals every month. Secretary Health further said that the Medical Superintendents of teaching hospitals would also furnish the same certificate.
Jehanzeb Khan directed to improve routine immunisation and service delivery system in the hospitals. Earlier, EDO Health briefed the meeting about the performance of the hospitals of district Bahawlapur and the pace of work on ongoing development schemes.
