UAF employees face further wait for salaries

Published Updated

The Academic Staff Association (ASA), University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Saturday demanded the government to immediately release funds for the payment of normal and increased salaries of the employees working with the university. It was stated by the ASA President Professor Dr Muhammad Khalid at an emergent meeting held to discuss the financial constraints being faced by the university.
He said the financial crunch causes a setback to the research and development work, baring the human resource to continue their working for the development of the country. It is worth mentioning here that the University of Agriculture Faisalabad is unable to pay the increased salaries announced by the government in the budget of financial year 2011-12 for the month of August (on the eve of Eid) as the university has not received any funds by the government for the payment of normal and increased salaries.
The university is running under severe financial crunch owing to non-releasing of funds and facing problems to meet the current-year increase in salaries and pensions. The association appeals to the government to release the funds to redress the grievances of more than 2,000 employees of the university.
