Increase in power tariff slammed

Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has slammed Rs 1.04 per unit increase in electricity tariff and demanded of the government to withdraw the decision immediately. The raise in power tariff would not only put extra burden on already crisis-hit industry but it would also create multiple problems for masses.
President of MCCI Shahid Naseem Khokhar said the business community was surprised instead of taking measures to control line losses and increase in power generation up to capacity, the policies were being evolved to add to the miseries of the business doing people. He said a large number of industrial units have closed down their operations due to acute shortage of electricity. He said if corrective measures were not taken, the situation could further aggravate.
