Although the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have started conducting air surveillance and search operations in the affected areas, no quiescent in ongoing spate of violence as four more persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were fallen prey to the targeted killing incidents at various parts of the city on Wednesday.
According to police, a 22-year-old MQM activist Abid Baig son of Nadeem Baig was found dead at Ghazi Nagar, Usmanabad in Garden police precincts. Police said the deceased, who lived in Old city area, was kidnapped and tortured to death. They said the victim was working with MQM Unit-32. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities. Scores of MQM workers reached the hospital and expressed their grief.
Two more bodies of youth were found in the gunny bags at Bhem Pura in Napier police limits. Police said the identities of victims were yet to be ascertained. Yet another body was found in a garbage drum located near Jamshed Quarter. Police said the deceased, who was in his mid-twenties, was hit by two bullets.
Meanwhile, the security has been beefed up in the city as paramilitary rangers have started air surveillance besides establishing temporary pickets to avoid any untoward incident through snap-checking. These temporary pickets were established at all affected areas including Orangi, Banaras, Manghopir, Surjani, New Karachi, Shah Faisal, Landhi, Quaidabad, Old Subzi Mandi, Hassan Square, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
On Wednesday night, around 2000 paramilitary rangers along with policewomen conducted overnight search operation in several parts of Orangi Town including Qasba Colony, Qazzafi Chowk, and Bukhari Colony, Kati Pahari, Aligarh Colony and Gulfamabad. During this overnight search operation, which continued for at least three hours, the rangers detained dozens of suspects and later shifted them to unknown place for interrogation.
