Fifty eight point seventy two (58.72) percent students passed the Matriculation exams 2011 of Board Of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, according to the result announced on Tuesday. A medal awarding ceremony in honour of position holders was held at Alhamra Hall on Tuesday, where provincial Minister of Education Mian Mujtba Shuja-ur-Rehman was the chief guest.
Position holders were already announced on Monday but the result was made to public on Tuesday. 206,011 students took part in the exams whereas 120,977 were successful. Speaking on the occasion Mian Mujtaba announced that now students could apply online to take admission in the colleges.
He said that education is the top priority of the Punjab government. He highlighted various projects of Punjab government for education sector including Daanish schools, IT labs in the schools and colleges. He said that the Chief Minister will call on the position holders and a guard of honour will be given to them.
Secretary Schools Aslam Kamboh, Additional Secretary Higher Education Department Zarak Mirza and Controller Examination Manzoor-ul-Hassan Niazi were also present on the occasion. According to the results, Larabe Farrukh of Kips High School for Girls got first overall position by securing 1022 marks out of 1050, whereas Saman Habib of LDA Model Girls High School got 1021 marks and stood second. Taimoor Jaffar Ali of Crescent Model Higher Secondary School (CMHSS) and Arfa Tahir of DPS Girls Model Town shared the third position by getting 1020 marks, each.
Cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 were given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders whereas gold, silver and bronze medals were also awarded to the position holders. Topper was also awarded with the Pentium IV computer system. Chairman Lahore Board, Akram Kahmiri also congratulated the students and discussed the performance of the Lahore Board. He said that the Board has modernised its system and now the chances of mistakes were minimum.
